How to create a topic in the admin panel
Create a new Topic
To create a new Topic, click on Topics (1) in the left sidebar and then press the New Topic button (3). Alternatively, you can access the Topic Editor directly on the Welcome Page (see the first image). Press the New Topic quick link (2) in the Content Management section.
A dialog will pop up in the middle of the screen, where you have to fill in the basic information about the new Topic you want to create.
|
When you are done filling this out, press the Save button and it will redirect you to the Topic Editor, where you can start adding the sparks and content.
Topic Editor
On the top left (1), you see all the information you filled out in the previous dialog. In case you would like to change it, just press the Edit data button to bring back the dialog.
Tags (2) are keywords you can attach to your topics to find them easier. App users won't see them, because they are only visible in the admin panel. When you start typing in the field, you see a list of existing tags to pick from, just click on the one you want to select it. If you want to add a new tag, you can type it in here as well and choose the "Create ..." option in the drop-down menu.
Below the metadata, you can add items to your Topic. On the left side (1), you can add content and the main image to the Topic (2) and you can see how everything will look like for the app users on the preview tab (3). You can read more about adding content and adding the topic main image below. On the right side, you can add your sparks to this Topic (4). You can find more about adding Sparks here.
Add Content
With the Add Content button, you can add content to your Topic. First press the button (1). Choose all the content you would like to add (2) and press the save button (3). |
|
The content pieces you selected are part of your Topic now. Users will be able to see them in the app. We suggest you add all content that you added in the related sparks, so the users can read or watch them even after they already finished the Sparks. This way, users are for example able to find an exercise or article they want to re-read. To remove a content, which you added accidentally, from the Topic just hover over the content item you don't need anymore, and you will see a delete icon at the end (1). If you want to know more about content, for example how to create and edit a content piece, please click here. |
Add Image
To add an image as the main image for your Topic, first you have to press the Add Image button (1). Your system default file picker will pop up, where you can select the desired image. The Topic's main image has to be at least 1000 px wide with a 2:1 ratio (width:height) and it has to be less than 4MB. After you selected the image, you will see an image editor, where you can select which part of the picture you want to use. When you are satisfied with your selection, press the Upload button.
Add Sparks
With the Add Spark button, you can add Sparks to your Topic. First press the button (1). Choose all the Sparks you would like to add (2) and press the save button (3).
The Sparks you selected are part of your Topic now. Users will get them in the order you put them in the list. To reorder, hover over a Spark, hold down your left mouse button at the drag icon (1) and move it to another place in the list. You can remove a Spark from the topic if you press the delete icon (2). You can find more information on Sparks here. |
Saving
The Topic Editor saves everything on the go. This means anything you do is saved immediately after. The only exception is the metadata on the top. There you have to click on the dialog's Save button to get it saved.
