Add a new content piece
Create new Content
To create new Content, click on Content (1) in the left sidebar and then press the New Content button (3). Now you can select what format you would like to create. You can read more about the different formats here. Alternatively, you can access the Content Editors directly on the Welcome Page (see the first image). Press either the New Article, New Image or New Video quick link (2) in the Content Management section.
A dialog will pop up in the middle of the screen, where you have to fill in the basic information about the new Content you want to create.
|
When you are done filling this out, press the Save button and it will redirect you to the Content Editor, where you can start editing.
Content Editors
In all Content Editors on the top left (1), you see all the information you filled out in the previous dialog. In case you would like to change it, just press the Edit data button to bring back the dialog. You can't change the format of the content, so if you picked the wrong one, you have to create a new one.
Tags (2) are keywords you can attach to your Contents to find them easier. App users won't see them, because they are only visible in the admin panel. When you start typing in the field, you see a list of existing tags to pick from, just click on the one you want to select it. If you want to add a new tag, you can type it in here as well and choose the "Create ..." option in the drop-down menu.
Below the metadata, you can edit your Content. On the left side (1), you see the editor (2) and you can see how everything will look like for the app users on the preview tab (3). This part (1) looks a bit different based on the format you picked. You can read more about the details below. On the right side, you can add Related Contents (4). These will show up in the app below the Content you are editing as a list, so if the user is interested they can click on them and read more.
Article Editor
In the Article Editor we introduced the versioning just like you saw at the Sparks. Here you can read more about how it works.
In the Article Editor, you will see the title of the Content on the top (1). Below that, you can add a Main Image (2). More on how to add an image here. Later you can add these articles to Sparks and Topics, or to Contents as Related Content. The Main Image will show up as the Content's thumbnail on the Topic details page, and between the Related Contents in the app, where the Contents are listed. When you add the Article to a spark, the user will see the Main Image on the Sparks screen first as well. The Article shows up only when they click on the Content to open it. Also, the Main image shows up in the Content. You can see how if you click on the preview tab. On the Bottom you can add text fields (3) or add image fields (4) to your article. If in the text editor you add a link you have to be sure to copy the full url with the http or https like this: https://intao.helpdocs.io When you don't need a text field any more you can delete it with the button on the right side (5). Also you can add emojis with the emoji button (6), but you will only see it if you click into the text field. You can close the emoji window by clicking on the emoji button (6) again. You can rearrange your text and images with drag on drop using the button on the left side. (7). Click here for more information on how to use the text editor or here to know more about image upload. You can always check out what you made on the Preview tab. |

In the Image Editor, you will see the title of the Content on the top (1). Below that, you can add the Image (2). Later you can add these uploaded images to Sparks and Topics, or to Contents as Related Content. This will also show up as the Content's thumbnail on the Topic details page and between the Related Contents, where the Contents are listed, if you add it to a Topic. More on how to add an image here. |
Video Editor
In the Video Editor, you will see the title of the Content on the top (1). Below that, you can add a Main Image (2). More on how to add an image here. Below the image, you can upload your video file, by clicking on the Add Video button (3). Your system default file picker will pop up, where you can select the desired video. The file has to be an .mp4 and it has to be less than 120MB. Later you can add these uploaded videos to Sparks and Topics, or to Contents as Related Content. The Main Image will show up as the Content's thumbnail on the Topic details page, and between the Realted Contents, where the Contents are listed. When you add the Video to a spark, the user will see the Main Image on the Sparks screen first as well. The video shows up only when they click on the content to open it. |
Add Image
To add an image to your Content, first you have to press the Add Image button (1). Your system default file picker will pop up, where you can select the desired image.
The Main image (the Title Image) of your content pieces has to be at least 1000 px wide with a 2:1 ration (width:height). At a 1000 px width the height is 500 px.
Images within a content piece have no restrictions on size. However, please be aware that if an image has a small pixel size the resolution (image quality) will be poor in the app. Please also note that the preview does not account for all device sizes and is a guideline only.
Both image types have to be less than 4MB.
These image rules and guidelines exist to ensure the optimum user experience. After you have selected an image, you will see an image editor, where you can select which part of the picture you want to use. When you are satisfied with your selection, press the Upload button.
Saving the Content
The Content Editor automatically saves everything what you do, so you don't have to worry about losing what you've done. The only exception is the metadata, there you have to press the Save button after you finished editing.
The Article Editor also saves the Content automatically after modifications, but the changes will only show up in the app after you press the Publish content (1) button in the top right corner.
After you successfully published the first version of your Article, you can click on "All changes saved." next to the title (2), and you will see your first version.
When you start to modify your Article again, you will have two versions. The Published version and the Current version what has the modifications. Every new modification will be saved automatically into this Current version until you publish the Article again.
When you publish the Article again, the Current version will become the new Published version.
If you modify something, but you don't like it, you can restore any previously published version. Just select the version you want to restore and press restore.
The versioning doesn't effect the related contents, but changes made with related contents are also autosaved.
